Galt Does Jane Jacobs Proud
“Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody.”
~ Jane Jacobs
This weekend, locally known as Jane’s Walk Weekend, saw 31 walks throughout the Region – Kitchener (17), Waterloo (11), and Cambridge(3). These walks (and bike rides!) focused on a variety of topics – from edible forests to favorite parks, from fairy doors to changing landscapes over the decades. The walk/ride leaders were equally as diverse, with a 5 year old leading one, a city Councillor another, and locals leading numerous others. What was common amongst all of the walks/rides was the crowd of eager participants, eager to learn more about our great Region. Many people who attend plan their whole weekend around the walks/rides they are interested in – visiting www.janeswalk.org to read about all the cool happenings and to prioritize which ones to attend and to ensure the don’t overlap.
Galt had two walks this year, both on the Saturday.
