Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a Hyperbike!

I have never seen anything like it!  Well, close-up at least!  It is a marvellous, people-powered vehicle, low to the ground, recumbent, and reminds me a bit of the “Hungry Caterpillar”!  If ever you see it around Waterloo, don’t hesitate to give a huge hoot and wave to pedal-powerers Joe and Rob, and enthusiastic helmswoman, Lani.  With two wheels up front and a big, bug-eye wind-deflector, Rob steers and provides front wheel drive.  Joe in the middle has the all important horn (honk honk) and adds his own pedal power to give Rob drive from behind.  Lani, in her colourful buggy trailer, follows up the rear, happy to be hailing on her charioteers.

This is such a great way to get around and enjoy the benefits of the fresh-air, scenery and bike-riding, en famille.  And the “famille” are FamilyHome Providers Heidi and Rob with Joe and Lani who live with them in FamilyHome Program.  Rob and Joe are a triathalon team and use the vehicle in the bike sections of their competitions.  They are indeed a force to be reckoned with.  But on sunny summer days, you may see the whole family out and about like I did, with Lani at the back, and Heidi and Jennifer (foster sibling) piloting a similar machine behind, a forerunner to the “caterpillar”.

Truly, FamilyHome on the go!
