Statement from Executive Director Al Mills regarding Open Space at Melvillé Cafe
As some of you may know, Open Space is an inclusive drop-in group coordinated by Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region. One of our groups has met at Melville Café for the last seven years. After a thoughtful discussion with the owners, we are looking for a new space as we had outgrown the original intentions of the arrangement. We understand fully that things evolve and this sometimes calls for change.
We are truly grateful for Melville’s welcome and hospitality for all these years and are looking forward to the next chapter for Open Space as we enter into conversations with new spaces that may serve as a host location.
We do not harbour any negative sentiments towards the café. We urge people to maintain a positive perspective in social media exchanges at this time of transition.
Again, we want to extend gratitude to Melville, its owners and the staff who have welcomed and hosted us. We are very optimistic about this transition period and are confident that we will find a space that matches the group’s energy and culture well.
