Crisis Prevention Training by Safe Management

Crisis Prevention by Safe Management provides knowledge and strategies about dealing with difficult situations. You will learn how to build positive relationships, practice verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques, avoid injuries if behavior escalates to a physical level, and more.

This 12-hour certification (two days at 6-hours) is for people who provide support, as well as family members and caregivers. This certification expires after one year. You can re-certify (one day at 6-hours) by registering for day two of any scheduled course. The re-certification days are available for those whose Safe Management Certification is current, or has been expired for no longer than 3 months. Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is geared towards an adult audience. It is designed for Direct Support People, employees in developmental services and people affiliated with Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region.  This workshop is mandatory for Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region Direct Support People who work in a Quality Assurance Measure program.

Unfortunately, EAFWR trainers are not insured to provide official certification for Crisis Prevention by Safe Management. If you are not affiliated with EAFWR, but are interested in this training, you will receive the training manual and a letter from the trainer that outlines your involvement in the course and the material covered.
